Since moving to Asheville with Doc C and I, Nancy has spent at least an hour or two outside on the balcony pretty much every day. She's always been pretty vocal in the mornings, but where as she used to be demanding her breakfast, she's now demanding that the door be opened for her.
Nancy's favourite thing in the whole world is to lie on her back in the sunshine, maybe luxuriously washing a paw, and have either Doc C or myself tell her what a good cat she is. All you have to do is say "Nancy! What a good girl! Who's a good cat? Nancy!", and she starts deliriously rolling around on her back. Ridiculous creature!
In this photo Nancy looks like a ball of lard (Jason's nickname for her, Fat Nance, has never looked more appropriate), but I think that's to do with the angle I took it from, actually she's lost a bit of weight, plays a lot more and is generally looking a lot happier and healthier.
I know being a parent is going to be very different to being a cat owner, but adopting a mangy looking, skin-and-bones cat with some weird behavioural issues and having her blossom in your care into a healthy, affectionate and clearly very happy animal, well, it sort of gives one confidence that you really will be able to keep a child alive.
(Also - No, still no baby! Evalyn has been wriggling around a fair bit today though, so I know she's ok and that's really all I care about.)
