Today I have been SO productive, mostly it was boring stuff like sweeping the hallway, kitchen and bathroom floors and doing the washing up; but I also got out the mixer and made both butter cookies AND oatcakes from scratch (Nigella's recipe for both).
Yes! Yes, I managed to bake something today! That makes me unreasonably happy and somehow helps me to feel more on top of everything.
Of course I realise that this was only possible because Eva was happily relaxed today and mostly because she slept for a few hours in the afternoon. Every day there is something new going on with her, and she is definitely getting more alert and lively; she's recently started cooing a lot, which is adorable, particularly when combined with a gummy smile.
Eva is also very very close to laughing. Doc C and I may be feeling a little bit competitive about which of us gets that coveted first giggle out of her, and as I'm the one at home with her at the moment I currently have the edge on this one. On the other hand, Doc C will be looking after her when she's a bit older, so probably get her to say her first word or take her first step, so I think that's pretty fair, don't you?
