Today Eva decided that it was about time she started to exert her dominance over us through the simple, yet effective, means of screaming almost inconsolably. For hours. It hasn't been constant by any means, she's given us breaks ranging in duration from a few minutes to a couple of hours, but the intermittent tantrums through out the whole day still clearly demonstrated just how difficult she can make life for us if she so chooses.
I understand, from my new favourite parenting guide, that it's usually around the two week mark when babies stop sleeping all day and start to express their dissatisfaction with no longer being in the nice comfy womb, so Evalyn is spot on target for that. It's reassuring to know that, because otherwise I'd be wondering what the hell happened to my sweet little baby and possibly considering that whole demonic possession angle (I joke! But I am aware that sometimes child abuse has been explained by people apparently believing that of their children, that's at least one thing that having an atheist for a mother will protect her from.)
Eva's quiet right now, but I'm nervous that it's merely another temporary lull. Please keep your fingers crossed she's got her frustrations out for today and will sleep well tonight.
