Today is the last (week) day of the summer holidays for Doc C, and when I was a kid that always meant going out for the day. In the absence of a National Trust House (I love National Trust Houses and especially National Trust tea rooms!) to visit, we drove to the top of Mount Mitchell and then walked 280 yards to the actual summit - Which, as you can see from the sign, made Evalyn's bump the highest bump East of the Missipi River!
It was very pleasant up there, because it was quite misty and autumnal. Lovely. It was very odd to drive back down the mountain and into late summer again.
