I brushed Edith yesterday, which produced a very happy cat (Edith adores being brushed) and a nice big ball of grey fluff. Edith fur is so fine and soft, that I'm sure it must be pretty similar to angora rabbit fur. It just seems like such a waste of a natural resource to throw it away; which, naturally, leads me then to ponder the practical possibility of spinning it into wool and then knitting with it. Would that be creepy?
Obviously I doubt that I'll actually get round to doing it, because I'd need a lot of fur to make a decent amount of yarn and that would involve collecting it after every grooming. Then I'd need to store it somewhere between groomings, and frankly I can't see Doc C agreeing to me storing sack loads of fur in the spare room until I've got enough to spin with.
So, you know purely theoretically, would it be creepy to knit a sweater from my cat? I'm thinking yes, but it would be such a pretty colour to knit with.
