For Christmas my lovely thoughtful Mum not only sent us stockings, but also, via Amazon, a couple of cookbooks from our favourite UK based eateries. There are several good restaurants around town, but there are still many culinary options that are currently unavailable to me, and these books have helped with that quite considerably.
The first book to arrive was the Wagamama cookbook, and Doc C has already cooked us a couple of fantastic meals from that. Noodles rock!
The other book was the Pret A Manger cookbook, this may seem odd because Pret specialise in upmarket sandwiches, soups and wraps (Oh, and great cakes, cookies and slices. And really good coffee. And root vegetable crisps. And their smoothies are fabulous. And the best salads), but really a Pret sandwich is a thing of such joy that it's worth having a book detailing how you put your favourite ones together. Today I made my all time favourite ever sandwich, roast smoked salmon with horseradish.
It was a delicious sandwich.
Making myself that sandwich, eating it with a nice cup of tea, and knowing that I have enough ingredients to make another such sandwich tomorrow makes me very very happy.
